A LOT of people really don't care about the 'two bucket' method, lambs wool mitts and ultra expensive products. They just want their cars cleaned by someone else quickly so they can drive them and get them dirty again! Detailing is for people who have too much money and are a bit too precious about their cars....IMO of course!
Actually it's all about 'standards'. Being lazy, adopting either a contrived or a real 'couldn't care less' attitude is nothing to be proud about. Many seem only too happy to be scruffy & untidy & have no standards of behaviour or in their lifestyle. Maybe a sort of reverse snobbery. Most take pride in their appearance possessions & behaviour, in other words they have 'standards' but sadly we live in a world where the oik rules.
Of course there are upcharges with higher end cars as these generally need a lot more attention due to all the curves and special materials which can be in use (eg carbon).
It needs doing once every year to 18 months assuming the car is looked after.
It's hardly expensive given most of us can easily save £400 a year by simply not buying as much chocolate!
The difference it makes to the appearance of a vehicle is HUGE and going down to the local swirl-up in your Supercar is not something to be proud of.
Washing a car for me is a chance to see it up close , make sure there are no dents / scratches and of course to check out my brakes/pads when I'm doing the wheels.

Great photo and thanks for getting the four of us in, bit of a surprise seeing this!!!Unfortunately we don't own a British car between us (Ferrari 355, BMW M something, CLS AMG and a few Alfa's).......
Thanks as well to PH for organising this, best event I've been to at Goodwood for ages and an excellent selection of cars.

I was indeed followed you out through the tunnel and all the way over to Midhurst. Not sure I would have been able to have kept up in the Datsun had you had clear roads though, that being said was expecting more progress to have been made
I have the advantage that I know that route like the back of my hand coming down from Surrey to Chichester/Witterings since I was a kid. Rather than using the main road through (like everyone) there's a few back roads you can cut though which allows you to overtake quite a few cars. I was slower than usual due to some cyclists however the undercut normally works a treat, as clearly proved to be the case. One of a few useful cheats
Yeah me too! Had the roads been quieter we could have had some more fun on the way.I have the advantage that I know that route like the back of my hand coming down from Surrey to Chichester/Witterings since I was a kid. I will have to look for this short cut, we go to FOS every year so might come in handy.
We detoured and went through Hindhead tunnel on the way back, that was good fun.

I was surprised not to see the goodwood NAAFI wagon but I thought it may have been stored away for Christmas?
The NAAFI wagon is being rebuilt and restored over the winter. The wagon you used is a temporary fixture until the return, when normal service will be back. Ed
glad to hear its coming back after an upgrade!

Unfortunately at that time of day there's not much you can do, the trip down in the early morning when the weathers good is the time for that instead I will have to look for this short cut, we go to FOS every year so might come in handy.

I'll make your life even easier, below is a map with a route along the road I used, as you can see its a much more direct route. Especially going South your laughing and you don't have to break into the flow of traffic like you do when going back North. Hope it helps you out a little bit.

Haha that has to be done sometimes, its always a giggle.
