Enjoyable morning at Wilton House for the Wake up today. Plenty of cars and the sun was out.

Some photos here.....

As soon as we got to the Goodwood Breakfast Club this morning we realised we'd made the wrong decison, Wilton Wake Up seems to have captured what used to be so good about GBC. Well worth the extra few miles drive in the future I think.

Great photos by the way.

What was wrong with GBC? I was there and it all seemed fine, and well organised, with the growing numbers that are now attending.

GBC, at least Supercar Sunday, has grown into a public show with huge numbers attending, which brings with it the challenges of people running around all over the shop, unfortunately in a very self-centered manner. It's no longer for enthusiasts only, but for the general, social-media frenzied masses.

Wilton Wake Up was refreshing in its size and populous; a small, pleasant affair with families welcome and enough space to walk around and see the vehicles, and all the better for it IMO.

Which is how I've come ot feel about the Goodwood Festival of Speed, frankly. Now massively over commericalised, full of VIP tents, and not enough space to swing a cat any more. I now go to cholmondeley and Prescott instead, even though Goodwood is much closer.

Been attending since nearly day one and the 2 posts above this absolutely sum up my personal feelings about GBC, nothing more to add really.

The curse of the free event, numbers swelled by social media and forums - including this one

I lost interest once you had to pre-register, gone are days of rocking up early with a car that is on theme and being allowed to park on the start/finish straight

yep, they are managing the numbers well, but has grown far from what it used to be. Wilton ran out of space too, last time I went, with many more unusal cars ending in car park up the road.

Lots of "youtubers" there too.

Been saying that ever since the first Wilton Supercar meet then breakfast meets..
BUT Goodwood are to restrict numbers to the GBC so it might be more tolerable crowd0wise.
