Hi. Are any of you heading to Spa next weekend? I am travelling over with my son in our Caterham - camping for 3 nights. Never been before - looking forward to it.

Hi Jim

I'm not sure if it's possible - but I'd like to go with my young lad - camp for a couple of nights (Friday and Saturday ).

Who did you get the tickets through please? What was the approx cost (including entry)?

I used Speedchills for Le Mans - they were excellent - but they don't do F1.

Any top tips or pointers would be gratefully received sir!

Cheers

Mike

Hi Mike

I booked my race tickets back in march. I used Grandprix Tickets - they arrived last week. I got the weekend tickets in Gold grandstand at Eau Rouge.

We are staying in Camping L'eau Rouge. Seems to get ok reviews. About a mile walk to the circuit. Leaving on the Monday morning to avoid the mass exodus!

Let me know if you want any more detail.

Jim

Going Friday in a Silver Seraph. We're staying at a house in Monschau, Germany 35km from the track.

Race is pretty busy apparently because of the popularity of Verstappen in that part of the world

Can't wait!

Its a great weekend and was lovely and sunny when I went across with my lad and some friends. We camped and had a great time. The event is extremely busy and I was shocked how many more people turned up on the Sunday. You dont really get to see that much but you are part of a big party.

From a spectators point of view, my son and I have been to the Spa Classic as well and preferred that.

Enjoy!

Hello Jim & TV8

Thank you so much for the "top tips" - very much appreciated.
Unfortunately things didn't quite drop in to place.
CampingF1 were extremely proactive & very helpful - so my thanks to them also.

Planning will be done much much earlier for 2018!

Spa is now on my radar!

Thanks again gentlemen for taking the time to reply.

I hope your respective Spa weekend was excellent

Cheers

Mike

Based on my experiences at the weekend, I wouldn't bother unless you pay out for a grandstand seat. Massively over sold in bronze, unpleasant moving around and very difficult to find a place to watch unless you're trackside by about 6am. Facilities poor too; huge crowd and very few toilets meant that the surrounding area was one big cess pit all weekend.
We didn't go to qualifying, but went to the Nurburgring instead for the tourist day. Far better entertainment.

I was so glad I had grandstand tickets. As 2 GKC says, Bronze tickets was a free for all. Saturday seemed more chaotic than Sunday. Camping at l'eau Rouge was fine and there was a shuttle bus - apart from Sunday afternoon when we had to walk back. It's a fantastic weekend albeit it very busy. Be prepared to walk a long way as well. They made the pedestrian tunnels one way after the race which meant we had to walk the circuit to get back to our exit.

We left the campsite about 9pm on Sunday when the roads were quiet - and was back home in Oxfordshire at 3am.

It's one ticked off the bucket list!
