Dates announced today, Wednesday to Saturday next year.
Currently trying to convince Mrs Db a week in Garda in May is a good idea whistle

Booked 6 nights in Desenzano a while ago and took a slight gamble on the dates but it always seems to be that weekend in May; just needs a tweak for the Wednesday start which is new for 2018.
Idea is to see scrutineering etc and part of first day and then perhaps try to follow the event for a bit as it returns to Brescia.
Never been to Garda but have stayed on Como a few times - beautiful area and if you take a week there you'll get a few non-car days. Route to get there is to be decided but likely to be Austria on the way down and Switzerland on the way back.
Got the feeling this is going to be a seriously good one!

The Wednesday start has screwed it for me!

Loved it last year, stayed in Sirmione & they came to us which was a bit special. Having your lunch with friends by the lake as the cars roared past is something I'll treasure for ever.

Will go back sometime but will do Spa Classic in 2018 as the MM's earlier start doesnt work for me sadly.

I guessed the dates too but not a Wednesday start,if I get to Italy in May ,one day early is no bother.
Glad it's going through Lucca, near to my base.

We were in Desenzano last Sept and bagged the last front room in the Park hotel, after we learned that the 1st checkpoint was just past the hotel entrance. We plan to visit Brescia the day before. Recommend shortest & least expensive route is to cross over into Germany near Strasbourg to save on French tolls then south through Switzerland crossing near Basel, buy a Swiss carnet at the border, then down to Milan motorway and east to lake Garda past Brescia. Should be about 700 miles from Calais.

Just do it if you can, Mrs D will love it, we've driven to that area for 10 years now, its real easy, see my other post. Look for a hotel in Desenzano or Sirmione, both have checkpoints.
