Now one of the UK's best motoring events. Even though it involves a 3 hour drive I have rarely missed any event so far.
The setting is almost as genuine atmospheric offering a wide variety of interesting things to look at as Brooklands & far less artificial than Goodwood.where you always get the impression everything is about grabbing as much money from visitors as possible.
The Bicester major festival & the Brooklands Double-Twelve are both on a par with the Goodwood Revival except there is no track action.

We're going. Convoy leaving Beaconsfield services around 08:00-08:30.

Always a great event. Walking around the historic workshops and seeing the 'Dad's Army' guys walking around if always a fun experience.

I love the juxtapostion of seeing a few modern (super)cars parked in and around the old historic buildings.

confused

Both Bicester and Brooklands are ticketed... Goodwood Breakfast clubs are free... but I digress...

Yes, Bicester is great!

scratchchin Well that kind of ignores the fact that Goodwood, like Brooklands, was and is a motor racing circuit with enormous history whereas Bicester is an ex-USAF bomber base that has now repositioned itself as a home for vintage, verteren and classic cars. They are both interesting places in their own right but ultimately nothing beats the smell of castrol R and the sight of 1950s Ferraris and Maseratis giving it full beans around a proper race track.

I believe the Porsche owners club are aiming to fill one of the hangers and I'm going along to join the other Abarth Owners Club members.

I really enjoyed the last scramble and i'm hoping it stays dry tomorrow.

I'll be taking my '62 Thunderbird along. It's quite a long trip for the old girl so hopefully we'll make it OK. Say Hi if you wander past.

Will.

Think you’ll find Upper Heyford is ex USAF (F1-11s, etc.) Bicester RAF was WWII bomber station.

This is my favourite event and the turnout was great today. Always amazed at what will turn up even in the depths of winter.
Had a great parking spot next to my friend's fabulous Dino.

Ah ha, good point, that's true. I've flown my glider there and thought there was a USAF connection.

Bloomin’ freezing though! Must get there earlier next time, I think most had left by the time we arrived.

I shouldn't have tempted fate with this post. Got as far as Beaconsfield services on the M40 to top up and the starter motor conked out, ended up on an AA flatbed back to base :-(

"Thunderbirds are Stop" as a friend commented.

Great shame but hopefully I'll get up there next time, time for a in-depth service first though I think.

Will.

What time did people arrive? What were the queues like to get in?

Last time I arrived for "opening" and it was already filling up with queues backing to the roundabout.
