Hello folks, having just relocated from the dizzy heights of Scotland down to Guildford I’m pretty keen to get stuck in and go to some events. Are there any must haves for the year? I’m open to all sorts of cars and travelling.

Good Friday ,there is a well established custom car show at Aldershot arena ,the Surrey Street rodders show.

It's only 5 pounds entry and a big field of cars ,if the weather is good.

I first went in 1980 when it was at Slyfield Green, before it turned into a large industrial estate.

google Surrey street rodders for details.

er... Bicester isn't too far either!

Shere Hillclimb is suppose to be good, right on your doorstep in Guildford!

I'd second Wings and Wheels and Goodwood, especially the latter, a great drive down from Guildford.

Horsham not a million miles from you and they obviously have a petrolhead on their council. Easter weekend is the fabulous Piazza Italia, three days of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Ducati, Alfa, Fiat.

I took part with my De Tomaso last year and it was really great fun. There is a full schedule of vents on their website.

For Sussex and Surrey, SADCASE car club is also a good source of events, they have their own website.

Many mentioned already but brain dump below:

Goodwood - Breakfast Clubs / FOS / MM / Revival / Track Days

Brooklands - Apart from the obvious museum, there are plenty of themed/feature weekend events (see website)

Brighton Speed Trials (+other London to Brighton type events, Mini/Veteran/Commercial etc)

Shere Hill Climb

Horsham Auto Italia (Easter)

PH Pub Meets - See relevant regional PH sections

Plenty of local shows etc found by searches such as:- http://www.classicshowsuk.co.uk/classic-car-shows-...

Lots of stuff happens, it really depends what you are into.
If your into seeing lots of hatchbacks and jap neon then there are many evening gatherings at various places.

If you are into Classic Cars there are several of those type of events too.

With Surrey being a fairly big place what sort of location are you? (Sorry Just read your first post again, I see you are in Guildford).

I tend to get out of Surrey as much as I can, many of Surrey's roads are absolute crap and they have no interest in resurfacing them anytime soon.

Goodwood Breakfast Club meets are great, its even nice just to drive down to the circuit even if there is not an official meet on.
There are many Pub breakfast meets, I see a couple have been posted up already.
Brooklands does a lot of meets but you always have to pay for those.
Kent and Essex are also good for shows and meets too.
Motors by the Moat at Leeds Castle south of Maidstone is a good event.
Lydden Hill Circuit near Canterbury also has a lot of stuff on and of course there's Brands Hatch.
these places all have themed days for different car stuff.

Here's a couple that come to mind near you
https://www.cranleighlions.org/classic-car-show.ph...
http://www.classicshowsuk.co.uk/classic-car-show-e...
MBW Mercedes Benz World is Free to go in and walk around at Brooklands, that's worth a drive over to and get a coffee in the cafe.
The Shere hill climb is good if its not raining!
I would also have said the Supercar event (which has been at Dunsfold, Top Gear track the last few years),
However this year we are moving the event up to Corby Northamptonshire to the Rockingham circuit.
The Ace cafe has a lot of stuff on, but the journey to the place is just dire now! Speed cameras all down the A40 to Hanger Lane and the North Circular is just horrid in every way! Grid locked traffic on the M25 usually from Jcton 10 to 16 most days.

This Sunday breakfast meet at the Surrey Oaks Newdigate. smile
Also check out the PH Sunday service runs and if you do facebook there seems to be a ton of stuff on there.
Say Hello if you spot me.

Oooooh, How could I forget! The Fairmile inn on the Portsmouth Road just north of Cobham has a lot of car events, Surrey Mustang club meet there, the Surrey Corvette club meet there, I think the BMW Club also have meets there and Local PHs have also had meets there and I'm sure there are other clubs.
the Fairmile is set back from the road with a large grass area in front of the Inn.
The car clubs normally park up on the grass in front of the inn. Great in the Summer. and they also host a summer BBq.
