Hey all,

I've noticed there are a shed ton of events either officially or unofficially posted on council websites all the way to the odd Facebook page, however, very few events are based on high-end super and hypercars. I'm from Sandhurst in Surrey so I have access to reasonably up-market locations.

As a budding supercar spotter (you know, those kids that risk getting run over to take a few photos) I would really appreciate any wisdom to help consolidate the events I could attend as I'm putting together my calendar for the year.

I went to the Beaulieu Supercar Weekend last year and it was absolutely incredible! This is the footage I obtained from the day and would be looking to take more footage of a similar nature. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5g48eFzf8I

I saw a post by fatboy18 saying that Goodwood did unofficial meets outside that of the standard Breakfast Club meetups. This sounds like it might be right up my street and a great place to start. Any more information on this would be great.

Much appreciated.

The Easter weekend has a few events, some of which feature 'supercars'. This one is about 40 miles from Sandhurst.
https://en-gb.facebook.com/HorshamPiazzaItalia/

It is a 'display' event but with a slight difference - the cars assemble at the park & ride and parade through to the town centre, following this route, (giving you opportunities for filming?)
https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1jdx61fvY...

Cars assemble at the P&R at about 9am, leaving at about 9.30 heading for pre-arranged display areas in convoy by 9.45.

I'm going this year for the first time (Alfa Romeo 'special') - I haven't been before so can't be certain which cars will attend though in the past they have had Italian Supercars (obviously) including Ferraris, Massers, Lambos, Bugattis as well as 'premier GT's including Mclarens. There should be something of interest to you?

You'll get a good bunch of Italian Supercars at Autoitalia show, Brooklands museum on 5th May.

Supercar event is at Rockingham this Year 7th and 8th July

Also look out for the Saywell trackdays at Goodwood, normally a good selection on track and in the paddock

@alphaspecial - Thanks for that, definitely in my diary smile

@F355GTS - Appreciate the info. The Saywell days seem interesting, i've just checked Goodwood's circuit diary and they fall under Saywell International so I presume this is the one you mean.

Would you say there are any other Goodwood days I should be aware of? I've seen Performance Track on there alongside some supercar experience days, not sure if it might be worth the time driving there.

Additionally, do you have any information around the logistics of taking footage? Can I just park up wherever and walk wherever?

You're welcome.
I'm a Horsham 'virgin' myself but I imagine if you were to look at the map link I posted, convert to 'satellite' view and then 'drive' (using Street View) from Hop Oast Park & Ride you could probably 'spot' a good view point (presumably near town centre, preferably with an interesting backdrop).
A fiend of mine who is a 'car-paparazzi' tells me that because all the cars arrive in the centre at the same time there are limited opportunities to photograph cars without 100's of spectators milling around. If you want to 'publish' your footage I'd suggest you do so ASAP after the event - email the organisers with your footage / youtube link,. Organisers like to post reviews / 'post mortems' - the earlier you entry is submitted the more likely it is to get 'hits'.
I'd be inclined to film the cars drive up to the P&R and then get over to your chosen viewpoint by 8.45 (I presume roads may be restricted / closed to non participating cars?)
I don't know the timings for Friday & Saturday (nothing on Sunday) but the timings for Monday are:

Hi fatboy18
Am attending on Monday, located Crates Carfax, so might see you. If the weather doesn't pick up I'll ditch the ALFA Romeo - and build an ARKa-ROMEO!

Hope the Vipers OK, I saw it jacked up in a layby earlier on my way past.

I was unable to stop as I had an appointment for the dog at the vets. I would have on the way back but it had gone.

Not great Im afraid, As I came off the roundabout i turned the steering slightly left to continue down the dual carriageway but the car continued on a couple of feet without turning! ripping off the front splitter destroying the oil cooler and rad. so I'm facing a bill for at least 3K cry Spent the rest of the day pulling the car apart frown Chassis is 100% fine its all just alignment shims and bolt on parts I will have to get shipped over from the USA which will take time and paint. Gutted, only took the bloody car out to support the Children's trust charity.

Sorry to hear your news - at least you are ok. Rain soaked roads can catch any of us out - I'm not looking forward to the drive to Horsham (&back) with the roads so wet. (260 mile round trip......)

Thanks, odd thing was I had no warning whatsoever of a problem, I was not in a rush, and was only a mile away from the Venue but the front wheels just didn't grip and within a couple of seconds the splitter clipped the kerb and that was that!
Im now waiting for the insurance man to turn up!

Enjoyed Piazza Italia yesterday but boy was it wet!
If the O/P reads this I hope you risked the rain 'cos you'd have been in seventh heaven with photo opportunities of supercars
