Join PH at Spa Classic 2019

With no Le Mans Classic next year, we've decided to head for the ultimate Spa treatment instead

We're very excited to announce a brand spanking new event heading your way next year. As you may have deduced from the headline, PH will be heading to the 2019 Spa Classic with our longstanding partner, 1st Tickets! With no Le Mans Classic next year, it's the perfect opportunity to get your historic racing fix, there being few better places to do such a thing than the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

For those that haven't been before, this really is an event not to be missed; with fantastic grandstands and viewing points, you'll be able to watch as drivers wrestle their exotic classics through Spa's tight bends and sweeping curves, or even trek through the woods to watch from the tall banks at Pouhon, Blanchimont or Fagnes!

Like the Le Mans Classic, the paddocks will be open throughout the weekend for attendees to gawp at the machines taking part, as well as impressive collections of car clubs on the infield of the track (or close to the paddocks) with an expected 1,500 cars making the trip from all over Europe - us included.

We are hoping to have a PH Lodge above the Endurance pits as a base camp, much like the marquees at our Le Mans campsites, where you can escape from the sun if it's unbearably hot, the rain if the weather doesn't play ball, or simply have a chat with other PHers either way.

There will be a range of travel and accommodation packages to suit all budgets, including camping, chalets and hotels, as well as parking within the circuit (eligible cars in the display areas and modern cars just behind the F1 grandstand).

Prices for camping are from £147, a chalet will be from £200, an apartment from £260 and a hotel from £420 (all prices are per person and are based on three nights' accommodation from Thursday/Friday to Sunday/Monday, with Channel crossing, general admission to the event and access to the PH/1st Tickets Endurance pit lodge included). The race takes place on the weekend of 17-19 May.

If you're looking to get out on track in your own car (and pretend you're part of the action), there will of course be track sessions available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with novice sessions on Friday and Saturday and "experienced" sessions on each day, each costing £110 per session.

So, if this sounds like something you'd enjoy - and how could it not? - get yourself registered here to be the first to hear about our packages when they go on sale!

I’ve not done the classic but I have done the 6 hours event in September which is very similar. Classic cars and the best European F1 Circuit.

My pics from the 2013 6 Hours in the link below gives you an idea of how awesome it is.

Have done both, (6h in '16 and Classic in '17) and both were excellent.

Classic possibly just edges it because of how evocative seeing those cars at Spa are, plus its perhaps even more relaxed. On the Friday, I was on the old pit wall while the Group C cars were thundering past in the rain, won't ever forget that.

Hi DaveL485,

Sorry about this. We appear to have a problem with the sending out of the auto acknowledgement emails for the Spa Classic that we are trying to rectify.

However, we will be sending an email later today/tomorrow to everyone that has registered with information about the accommodation packages and how to make a booking.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Finally leaving these shores to go see some motor racing, heading to the Spa Classic with some mates - any tips?

I've been to Goodwood Festival of Speed a few times (and the revival a couple of times ten years ago), and my experience there is that it's worth planning where to watch from in advance.

Any advice or top tips welcome!

For anyone out at Spa this weekend, this thread may be useful: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

We're going to head up to the Eau Rouge campsite bar tonight at 9pm. If anyone fancies joining us for a beer, we'll see you there!

People not staying there are also welcome – the address is Domaine de l’Eau rouge, Cheneux 25, 4970 Stavelot
