I have deleted my initial message from this topic.
Haha.My initial post was, I thought, overly cynical to be the first post on this thread so I removed it.
But reading the other posts it would have felt right at home!
Silly entry fee / prize ratio - check
“Where we’re going we don’t need roads” - check
Battle of the satnavs - check
The only thing not covered (yet) is the thought that any decent logistics company should have access to Satnav-on-steroids in terms of plotting the most efficient multi-drop route, in which case the deck is loaded towards someone with access to that.
Nice idea for a trip. But not as a competition.

A Thousand Pounds to enter?!
So, let me just get this straight in my mind...
A £Thousand for people to enter their own car plus (based on other people's rough calculations of distance and assuming a reasonably frugal average car) circa £300 worth petrol that people would have to pay for themselves (not including the cost of getting to and from Snetterton depending on their location) plus at least one enforced 9 hour stop-over in the 30 hours that people have said it might take if done continuously with accommodation and subsistence paid for themselves as well, for the chance of winning £5000?
So, a minimum of 2 days of your time and approx. £1500 to gain possibly £3500?
Doesn't really stack up, does it?
Still...thanks for giving me the idea and the tip on interesting places to visit now that I'm retired. I'm sure I can work out a scenic and enjoyable route (rather than shortest) based on those 4-points. Cheers
