Techno Classica 2020 Essen, Germany

Good morning everyone, i'm new on this channel.
I have planned to go to the Techno Classica in Essen at the end of march. I was wondering if anyone else was going, have you been before and is it likely to follow the same format as the NEC.
i'm not travelling in anything exciting. my cars are under winter work in my garage so i'm only going in my modern VW.

It's a very large high quality show.
Last year about 60 Ferraris, 10 Gullwings, probably about 100+ 911s, 540K Mercedes, etc, etc. In all about 2,500 cars most of which are for sale. Hundreds of stands selling automobilia, models, clothing, in fact anything to do with classic cars. Also over 100 club stands. It's the only show in the world supported by the classic depts of most of the car manufacturers.

I have been to Essen 3 times and going again in 2020. Never driven there, fly to Dusseldorf then train to Essen, drop off bags at hotel then walk to the show. Would recommend the first day, expensive but worth it, works well with flight times also. You will need 2 full days to see it all properly, it is on a different scale to the NEC.
The quality of the cars on display are exceptional, as are some of the price tags (lots of sold signs this year though). The manufacture support is good with some interesting displays from the classic/museum departments. The motor clubs also put on some good displays and you will see many cars that were not made available to UK market. Don't forget to look through the outdoor sales areas, though prices asked tend to be a bit optimistic! still interesting to see though.
Loads of spare part, models and art sales and the 2 auction houses have large inventory's of vehicles and memorabilia. This year they let you view the cars in the auction without having to buy a programme, this may have been a one day only deal though, I did this on the Wednesday afternoon. The food available on site is only average at best and food/drinks are expensive.

I've been 5 times .it's about 250 miles from Calais ,easy enough drive, apart from the congested Antwerp ring road.
As already said ,it is HUGE and you will be very tired doing it all in 1 day ,which is what I have always done.
There's free parking in some nearby streets if you get there early enough.
Well worth the effort though.

Unsurprisingly this looks as it's cancelled according to autoweek.nl
The official site has "coming soon..." on the COVID-19 information. Yesterday it said it was going ahead but that was dated 26 February.

Many events here in Germany, especially those likely to attract more than one thousand at a time, are being cancelled, or in the case of things like football matches, being held in empty venues.
I was looking forward to my yearly pilgrimage but it looks like it's not going to happen
I can appreciate the sense behind all this, here in NRW is where the only, so far, deaths due to Covid have occurred, albeit to generally old and infirm patients (this does not make it any less tragic).

Restrictions here in North Rhine-Westphalia are only lifting very gradually, mainly restricting social gatherings to minimum numbers. As for larger events, as an example the top-flight football league will resume shortly but playing to empty stadiums. Pubs and clubs remain closed due to the impossibility of controlling social distancing. Restaurants are gradually reopening but with many caveats.I will be extremely surprised if this event goes ahead on the dates quoted. The general public simply cannot be trusted to do ask they're asked.
