Hi all,

Looking for a bit of guidance - a group of us are planning for LMC2020 and we would like to ideally stay at Village on The Curves as they have been good to us in the past at regular Le Mans and Joy is able to arrange for us to have a small enclave with our motorhome and tents rather than using pre-pitched.
However, she knows nothing about Track Laps and how to book them.
I can see we can use Travel Destinations or a few other firms to book everything, but they all seem more expensive than VoTC/Lycian events.

So, my question - is there anyone we can just book track laps through?
(If it helps/matters, we have use of a Jag, Lotus or TVR - all of which meet the lap criteria - so could use appropriate car clubs if that helps?)

Cheers!

Craig

Very nice! Myself and a good friend and working on our plans to get an eligible car and an entry for 2022... It would be a tick on the bucket list for sure!

Stayed with Lycian last time for Classic (and will probably be there again if can get time as their for main race).

2018 I got infield club parking (free) plus parade lap ticket through Brian at 1st tickets as he did car club too. Should be able to do this through him for PH parking and lap - not sure about qualifying cars for PH laps etc. Both driver and passenger had to have crash hats.

Check car insurance as can get quick out there and fun in chicanes

If you look on the 1st Tickets website for the Classic there is an option for "Pistonheads Parade Laps" towards the bottom of the page....I suggest you give them a call & see if it's exclusively for their camping customers? 1st Tickets & PH have a private camp site on Bleu Nord where I've also seen them accept motorhomes if you're interested as an alternative camping option & I'd be surprised if they didnt allow you a corner of the site to set up your own camp.

I've booked laps with 1st Tickets for the Saturday. I'd already booked admission, grandstand and parking tickets direct with the ACO so didn't need anything else. Also found some obscure chalet on Booking website about 15 mins away (so can get some decent kip) so didn't need any camping tickets either. They also have laps on the Friday so check which day they have available.

I did it in 2018 via Fast Track and as a member of TVRCC, I hadn't booked anything else with them and Ian was really helpful getting me on board at the 11th hour.

After the Dunlop bridge, it seemed it was no longer a "parade lap" most were giving it some and at one point we were three abreast into a chicane! No idiots though, and people indicating to show intent etc, all very polite.

It was utterly brilliant, I'll be doing it again, worth every penny.

Just to reiterate what others have said, you don't have to be staying with us/1st Tickets to book your track laps with us.

So head over to 1st Tickets or give them a call to get yours booked if you haven't already (and you've got an eligible car), and then you get to park in the PistonHeads area inside the circuit too biggrin

Dumb question, we won’t need helmets will we? Not done track lap since about 2008 so rules may have changed.

Yep, I’ve seen this mentioned a couple of times now....helmets are mandatory for both driver & passenger.

Yes you do need helmets now they changed the rules for the last classic.

On the plus side the pace was a lot faster and we got 4 laps, the previous years the pace was a lot slower.

Phew, glad I asked. Rather worryingly I’ve just seen on another site that the minimum age is 16, I’m taking my 14 year old lad along for his first taste of Le Mans. Would they check passenger ages?

Had it confirmed that there is a minimum age of 16 for the track laps, so I've had to cancel the booking. At least I found this out before going and buying us both helmets. Just have to go again in 2022. Did consider blagging it as he's a tall lad, but not worth it if the age waiver negates any insurance should anything happen on the lap.
