That BAC Mono looks amazing. I missed it at the meet but spotted it at the BP services on the A3 fueling up later. It was certainly turning heads on the forecourt.
Anyone know how many have been produced and what they cost?
Can't be many on the road

There are about 140 so far of the originals and they've just started delivering the Mono r, with a revised aero package and more power (as if it really needed that).Anyone know how many have been produced and what they cost?

I think that the base price now is around £170K + options (carbon wheels and brakes, visible carbon body, custom paint etc) and most seem to come out at around £230K I think.
You spend quite a bit of time filling them up as they have a foam filled tank and so you have to fill it very slowly if you don't want petrol on your shoes....

I had a chat with the owner…he’s built Caterhams in the past and was liking his new toy. I must admit that I think it would be a very frustrating car to drive on the South East’s busy roads. He doesn’t take it out for ‘country road’ , Sunday drives because it needs to be ‘driven’ which basically means that he shows it at meets and does track days. Personally that would leave me thinking what could I buy for the best part of £200,000 that was a track only car…there’s a lot of choice!I think that the base price now is around £170K + options (carbon wheels and brakes, visible carbon body, custom paint etc) and most seem to come out at around £230K I think.

I had a terrific time at the meeting. It's funny, I've lived around here for 20 years or so and had no idea this event existed. I will make a note of the dates when the Black Swan event is on. It's great to meet such a varied bunch of car enthusiasts and their amazing machines.
re the Mono, yes it's a bit extreme for road use, you definitely need a more sedate road car for country drives (I have an NSX and a 997.1) You can of course buy cheaper track only cars, but then you have to faff about with trailers. The beauty of the Mono is you can drive to the circuit, spend a day and then drive home. It is also just about the only single seater you can drive on a non-test day. I'm not good enough a driver to drive on real test days with actual racing drivers so it's perfect for me. There are some pretty serious drivers amongst the Mono owners who have set lap records at Spa and elsewhere in them. I confine my road use to early in the morning when the traffic is light if I can.
The central driving position and stressed drivetrain (the rear suspension is bolted to the engine/ gearbox, there are no engine mounts) make it much more intense than any other road car or most track cars for that matter. It's not for everyone, but it's a pretty unique proposition. I'm trying to put together some YouTube videos to explain how it is to drive.
If any one wants to have a closer look at it, as I said, we sometimes drive from Ockham on a Sunday and you'd be very welcome to join. Just PM me and I'll let you know when.

I think it was that bac mono parking up when a Robinson r44 came in to land last time I was there...how to show up everything at a car meet, arrive by helicopter!

That's very true, it's always possible to go one better!
Wasn't me though when the helicopter arrived, last Sunday was the first time I've been to the meeting. I'll definitely go again though, great fun.

A well shot video of proceedings (I have know affiliation, just stumbled across it on YT):

Another good turnout today for the platinum jubilee special. Some great cars of all types and several interesting classic motorcycles. Hopefully someone else can add some photos as I was too busy marshalling to take any.
A reminder the usual Sunday will be June 12.
Does this mean there’s no second Sunday meet this month?A reminder the usual Sunday will be June 12.

Another amazing meet….I almost don’t want to share too much info on this meet as it may a) Become too popular and B) Get inundated with the BMW brigade who think they have a car that people want to look at!
Here’s a video…nothing to do with me.

I'm rather glad I moved my old M635 out of the way just before the video was shot then...
