PH might be turning 25 this year, but we’re not even close to Prescott Hill Climb, which will be celebrating its 85^th anniversary this year. In fact, hillclimbing is one of the oldest motorsport disciplines in the world, dating back to the 19th century. Accordingly, we’re super excited to be hosting a Sunday Service at Prescott’s Car Club Day this year on Sunday 2 April, with space for 60 PH members' cars to take to the hill, and hundreds more to come along and spectate.

This is a non-competitive event, to give amateurs and experienced racers alike a rare opportunity to get a taste of hillclimbing on the 1,127-yard sprint skyward. Just £55 will get you four runs up the hill, with dedicated parking in the PistonHeads paddock area. Cars must be road-legal and road-registered, and drivers must have a full UK licence. You’ll also need a Motorsport UK RS Clubman licence, which you can get for free here.

If you’re keen to take on the hill, then book your place here, selecting ‘PistonHeads Hill Runs’ (this includes your admission to the event too). If you just want to come along to spectate and enjoy a great day out, early bird general admission is £12 here or £15 on the day. Is it possible to elaborate on “ non-competitive” runs

Is it simply un-timed, drive as fast as you dare, or wish to risk
Do you need helmets, covering sleeves, no shorts etc.
Any further restrictions on roadsters or convertibles

or is it as controlled as a procession up the hill behind a pace car ?
If so are we all at the same speed, Any grouping classes/power to weight taken account of

Camera mounts, sound restrictions, etc. is is current Mot all you need. How about Tow eyes ?

From past events, my understanding is non-competitive just means un-timed (certainly not a procession - as last time I was there someone 'parked' their Ferrari on top of the barriers (closing the course for the rest of the day, unfortunately).

And please drive sensibly through the local villages - plenty of whinging folk here complain about it and it'd be best to keep it open. It's bloody great listening to the cars go up whilst I'm fixing my p.o.s. french car on the drive...

Usually club days are not timed, one car at a time and normally road legal (is for the Peugeot day anyway).

I did book , but not for long, because the guys at pistonheads have kindly included the first photo on this page as a dedicated hill climb car, so I have asked BOC for a refund as pistonheads further down have a rule that says road legal only. Helpful!!

Maybe a good idea for you guys to change the photo so that people who have hill climb cars don't accidentally book the day with pistonheads and put the warning further up about road registered vehicles only?

Are passengers allowed on the hill runs? There is a mention of passengers needing a RS Clubmans license, so I assume they can providing they have registered for this?

Yes - they are. They just need the Clubmans RS license.

Also, all passengers must be seated in accordance with the RTA (so if you have children they must be in correct car seats etc.)

It is untimed and no pace car. Drive as you wish but be sensible - hill can only run until a certain time so anyone having to be recovered will reduce that time for other people.
No crash helmets or flameproof clothing is allowed. Arms & legs should be covered in a closed car and must be covered in an open car.

Cameras should be mounted behind the rear-most passenger.

Cars must be road legal (MOT, tax, insurance) and in roadworthy condition.

Noise will be monitored. Can't remember the exact limit but hillclimbs generally like to be below 102dB.

Towing eyes - up to you. We shouldn't have to use them

That was quite some mess we had to clear up and fix the barriers ready for British Hillclimb Championship a few weekends later!

Did Gurston Down last year and enjoyed it.

Probably bring the Nomad rather than the Impreza unless the weather is utter garbage.

Aaaah it went to sold out literally as I was trying to pay.
If anyone decides they can’t/don’t want to do their runs I’ll happily buy their place off them!
