It would be nice to shift it to Brooklands Museum on occasion, for variation. Just a thought.
Nice idea, but I believe Brooklands Museum charge entry for all their events.

I like the ethos of making Sunday Services free (well, at least to park).
Yes, about £25pp to enter.

Have you managed to persuade anyone at Lotus to host a day at Hethel? Soon 30 years of the Elise as well. If they run a truncated factory tour and charge for it, just to cover cost of staff and security for the day, it would be worth their while. I’m
Amazed it hasn’t happened before.

That’s a fair point. Perhaps an opportunity for a value add is to negotiate a discount for the event, as with Haynes or Brooklands.

I'd be interested to know how this would work as I know someone interested in running an event and had decided that Brooklands was too expensive to run an external event there. Bear in mind that Brooklands have no problems getting lots of visitors to their open events when they're charging £25pp.

To clarify, I meant for PH to negotiate a discount with the Museum alongside the SS at MB World. They’d benefit from an associated event next door and PHers would have another option to extend their day.

Ah, dunno why I read that as hosting it at Brooklands.

Will be interesting to see if they could do anything.

I did mean that also, initially, but the point about them charging for attendance going against the ethos of the Sunday Service is a good one.

They're on our shortlist so I'm sure we'll hold an event there at some point thumbup

Sadly not, after nearly ten years of trying, I've given up to be honest. They've never been interested and given where the company is heading now, it would be even less so. Perhaps we'll just have to host a 30 year celebration independently elsewhere!

After visiting the Black Swan yesterday, we stopped in at Bell & Colvill so my son could look through the showroom windows as he was keen to see an Emira, but they didn’t’ t have any on show! They did however have 6 (count ‘em!) Eletres parked around the showroom and car park!

Yeah, fair enough. It's defo good if it's free. I also still find it odd when organisations charge people who are bringing things that attract more visitors to a venue. Fine if there's a small fee to cover costs or to raise a little bit for charity but when you see an event charging £20 to people who are bringing cars for others to view, that's weird.

Anyway, I just had a thought.

Normally, if you visit Brooklands, you park in their official car park (marked in blue, surface slightly dodgy) but on event days, they allow visitors to park in the business park (marked in red, surface very good quality). PH could mark out a paddock area for 200+ cars nearest to the entrance (ie the north end of the red area).

Yes — from there, however, is there any impediment to attendees meandering over to the museum? If not, then I can see the default entry fee being necessary.

There's a physical fence and gate so you would have to go in via the main entrance (a bit of a walk but much nearer than the usual location of the PH meet). On some days where modern cars are invited eg Drive It Day, they open the gate and have a temporary physical barrier put up further south (and manned by staff). What's your thinking?

My thinking was that as an alternative to MB World, PH could have a meet at Brooklands Museum with a PH discount to enter the museum -- Haynes worked out well because one could make a day of it (in fact, I was possibly the very last to leave after soaking up as much of the museum as I could!).

That can be achieved by using Mercedes and walking across to brooklands. I’ve previously done that twice.

Well, it's certainly doable. Guess it depends on how Brooklands want to do things.

That was my original suggestion — stick a call into the museum, let them know there’s a few hundred potential customers and negotiate a discount

I don’t think they’d ever entertain it.
