Yes, for some reason I thought it was a dual carriageway. Cue flash from surprised oncoming truck driver. However this did ensure I got to star in a good chunk of the day 1 footage. Thanks Elco!Really enjoying this thread so far. Lots of good pictures, and some great vids from Elco. Can't believe its over a week ago already! Can't we have another go next weekend??? ;-)
My only regret is that I missed the first two DSR weekends. Gonna try and make up for it by going to Spa in September!

+1 I feel really bad, they went passed my doorstep. Next year, I'm there. I blame Queen's day, as I didn't wake up until 4 pm. My only regret is that I missed the first two DSR weekends. Gonna try and make up for it by going to Spa in September!
Just checked my stats: about 450 - 600 viewers in here! That's more than our DSR posse
Hi there!
On with the show:
Anglo-Dutch equipe . . .
. . . sharing this atomic bomb on wheels.
Civilisation! Ace wheels on this one. Keep us posted on the suspension updates Joop!
End of the world.
Thunderpack
Road to nowhere: C'mon guys, lets head to Bolsward. Quick!

At least we did find a proper toilet? Was really quite hard to find one in North-East Groningen...
@Elco: lov the vids; especially day 2, part 2; best roads for last. Unfortunately we had some bad wheather on that last bit...

Some got up high to enjoy the seaview. Oddly enough most Dutch never go here, simply because there's next to nothing to do in this area.
Snapping our convoy from the mirror of a 383 CanAm Ultima is a bit easier to do! Joop taking it easy for good reasons.
"Filling up is for the big V8s mate, we're just fine!"
"And so are we. We didn't filled up since before Hook."
Electric Vette this . . .
Hoodie came in handy as it was just a bit colder than the two previous DSRs.
Duke dazzled by the speed of that fuelcells needle . . .
Tank and win a Ford Ka! Think of it Ollie . . . New FB profile snap me thinks
Not original but IMO the right hue for a Pork wheel.
Huge pipe on a huge fourpot.
Enjoyed the ride in this quite a bit. Imagine a relaxed 236HP@6200 and 225lbft@4100 in front of you. The variocammed four offers effortless power with only 'that urgent noise' at toprevs. Stephen switched gear (6) more often than I would as the plant appeared to have nuff torque at whatever revs. But hey, what do I know?
I looked it up and found there even are a few 300 brake / 369 lbft turbo-version of this out there. Mmmmmh. A 968 would make an excellent and sensible new-timer. With 1400 kgs this is a car that should have had a way higher production, but Porsche decided otherwise . . .
Maybe think again you German lot?
I like the Porsche (maybe because my opinion is a little subjective ;-) )...
The 968 (and 944) is indeed on of the most underrated Porsches, everybody wants/wanted a 911...
...it may have a four-cylinder (blueprinted Audi?-)engine; but it goes forward very well (and that's an understatement).
Nonetheless we see more and more 944's/968's on the circuits during track days, therefore they should have some quality underneath the hood...

Nice shoot Joop!
This is how 500+ straight six turbo horses look like.
Elco nursing the 6.
Aram spoiling yet another picture . . .
Thank you Sophie for switching from Skyline to 350i for this occasion.
"Yes, we've had enough pies now thank you!"
I'm back to my regular weight now BTW.
Saturday: HARC historic races at Zandvoort. Will post linky to the album: camera is back to my regular settings!!!

A stop at the stones:
"We sat here first!"
Our bit of off-roading.
I paid a little bit more attention to the early 80s Spider I met a few days ago, thanx to David and Luts one. I'd've normally walked past as I favour the late 60s Duetto and the early 70s Alfas. But comparing prices makes you think again what excellent value for money they really are!
Talking about excellent: the Cloggies Chim is among the finest I've seen. Perfect colourcombo.
Caption Comp!

The Lonely Wolf.
How cool is Dans 350i profile.
"The long and winding road."
Bunch of loonies at a pile of stones.
Miss that car . . .
Takes no prisoners.
Lovely office.
It's on the . . .
. . . Skyliner.
Hunnebedden - the big pile of stones - were put together 5000 years ago. Weight per stone varies from 2K - 20K kgs! What we see today is just the skeleton of the original grave. Back in the days they were filled up with dirt and small stones. Holland counts as much as 54 Hunnebedden.
Last bit:
Corvette hiding. One of only a handfull parking spaces near the stones.
Greg and Hillary getting the Merc ready for the last legge.
With the rain pouring heavily the TVR suffered from a more or less broken down demister so we had to drive with the windows down to let some fresh air in. Water came in as well . . . A lot!
The Alfa waiting . . . dark skies ahead.
Last fill up before Zutpen dinner.
Thanx everyone for making this tour an excellent outing and a succesfull 3rd DSR.
DSR'11 will be a run to the UK, and let's see from there. Dates are the friday and the 1st weekend of May.
I'm thinking touring a bit, north of London. GW brekkie on a sunday morning.
Or maybe run from Dover to Hull.
Suggestions are welcome.

Hijack!
In the third week of September Driving-fun (which you may know from the crazy Dutch tunnel runners) will organise its first ever Italy Run.
In short: great Alpine passes, rallyroads, spending the night in medieval castles, factory visits at Maserati, Pagani, Lamborghini and a surprise company in Germany, museum visits at Ferrari (two different musea), Maserati, Lamborghini and Porsche. In short: a week never to forget.
