I'd start a new thread if I were you giving your exact symptoms. This one is full of waffle.

Hi, I know this thread was ages ago. But I'm currently facing the same problem. Appreciate if thread owner can tell me the exact problem with the car. TIA.
OP had historical overheating problems, replaced some components without checking for possible HGF, had recurring symptoms of coolant loss and air in the cooling system but assumed the temp gauge was reliable and proved the engine was not overheating.

Eventually found it had HGF. We'll never know whether that was due to incompetence dealing with the initial overheating problems, or poor judgment in continuing to drive the car subsequently with a compromised cooling system.

Don't be like the OP. Get your problem fixed by somebody competent and don't keep driving it when the cooling system is not working properly.

V rude, OP was 20 and had no ideas.
Car broke down multiple times, mechanics did not locate problem until a lot of money was spent. Eventually we found the head gasket had blown.

OP spent £1200 fixing a problem and sold the car for £500 to be rid of it.

Don’t be like ydjsosodnsiso. Be polite.

Which is exactly why he was told to go to a competent mechanic. Because if they cannot diagnose a head gasket issue on a standard basic car, they are morons, not mechanics.

Don't be an idiot and use even dumber "mechanics", and when you're given sound advice here....listen.
Don't cry about others telling you the truth...for free.

She*
Also, I had been to 4 mechanics over the space of 6-8 months and already racked up £600 of costs- it literally was not my fault they couldn’t diagnose the issue. 😂 I was 20, how am I meant to know what’s what under the bonnet beyond coolant and oil?! 😂

You lot make me laugh, honestly, how you take these things so seriously 5 years on 😂😂! The only advice i had off here was to use another mechanic lmao! - sound, free, truthful advice 😂

Oh well. It got resolved. I spent a fortune and drove it for another year, then sent it to the scrap and brought myself a new qashqai 😋

Nice catching up with you all!!!!!

🙄😂🙄😂

Hence my advice. If you have similar symptoms, don't do what OP did.

Instead, follow the suggestions given in this thread.

Yes, I know. I did wonder why you were referring to yourself in the third person.
