I had a new timing belt fitted last year and had the cylinder head reskimmed due to leaking head gasket.

The garage is now replacing the crankshaft oil seal due to another oil leak. Is the crankshaft oil seal something that would have been checked when the head gasket was changed and/or should it have been replaced at the same time.

Just wanting to know if these are all items are related or not.

Many thanks

Front oil seal (cambelt end), or rear oil seal (engine out, behind the flywheel)?
If it's the front seal, and it was leaking badly, you'd like to think they'd noticed it when doing the cambelt - but it may not be visible due to other covers or shields (what engine, what car?)
If it's the rear seal, then definitely not.

Has the leak got worse over that year?

Bear in mind that it may not have been leaking at all when the belt was changed.
