Engine gone in 2008 XF, noisy bottom end and a few other issues.

I read Peugeots had the same or similar 2.7L V6 engine, but can't find any more specific info on compatibility. Could anyone confirm if that would fit and what work would be required.

If possible that would be by far the most economic way to go. Thank you.

Yes, it's the "Lion" v6, part of the joint venture between Ford and PSA.

You won't find too many PSA cars with it, though - C5, C6, 407, 607. Whether it's the exact same spec... <shrug> Disco 3 used the same lump - that's probably the most common use in the UK, but it's definitely a lower-power version. IIRC it was single turbo rather than twin, but whether there's internal differences too, I have no idea.

I think I'd start by talking to some Landy specialists - they'll have plenty of experience with it, and know of good sources for replacements.

<edit: That wiki link suggests a different bellhousing pattern on LR engines. Bugger. Jags are probably your most common source, then.>

I've seen a couple 407s I could pick up, with some luck still just about drivable.

This thread suggests Jag use the LR bellhousing - which would make sense - but PSA are different...

Thanks everyone for input.

I've now sourced another Jaguar engine, presumably from S-type of unknown vintage (I am sure I will get this info once on site). Before I commit myself 100% to it is there any serial number or part number match up I need to do?
