I've had a new clutch fitted as my car was over revving when accelerating. After about 200 miles it started slipping again so the garaged fitted another new clutch under warranty stating that the gear box oil had contaminated the new clutch. After another 200 miles I am getting the same problem again with over revving. Any ideas/opinions on this?

I have no problems changing gear, but sometimes (once or twice a day) get a loud scrapping sound when accelerating/changing gear which I was getting before having a new clutch fitted.

The car has done 90k miles.

Thanks!

Was the gearbox oil leak fixed? You don't say, if not then you already know the answer to your question.

Was the loud scraping noise issue diagnosed/fixed? If not there could be your answer also.

What is the car?

Does it have a cable clutch? Most don't these days, so depends on the car & its age.

Was the full 3-piece clutch kit changed, just the friction plate, friction plate & driven plate?

From my understanding there wasn't any leak, they said they had refilled the gear box oil to correct amount, but due to be possible sludge it caused it to overflow.

This couldn't be reproduced when they had the car.

If you have a cable clutch then it may be adjusted incorrectly.

That is why I asked, could be a REAL simple fix.

A quick google says some indeed do have a cable clutch, so it could just be adjusted badly/not had the auto adjuster reset when the garage did the first swap!!!!

Poorly adjusted clutch is unlikely to be the only issue if the clutch is both not clearing correctly and slipping

What ever it is its not your problem, its the garages.
You paid them to fit a new clutch and you should not be getting all this hassle.Don`t take any bull from them, you want that clutch working properly for years and 1000`s of miles.

If you're grinding gears when shifting it's probable that the pressure plate is not pulling fully clear of the friction plate, i.e. the clutch is dragging.

OK, I didn't take what he said to sound like a description of grinding gears but obviously if it is you are indeed correct sir.

The sleeve around the input shaft which the release bearing slides have a habit of collapsing holding the release bearing against the pressure plate and causing the friction plate to slip and also wearing out the bearing which are made of butter this is probably the grinding your hearing

yes ^ This , also the early mentioned oil leak maybe from the front input shaft bearing on this box its also prone to collapse thus elongating/destroying the front oil seal also
