2009 2.0D Avensis.
Picked my car up from my usual garage today, it's been in over the weekend with a litany of faults.
They have said that it still needs a new EGR valve but it'll be a few weeks so I may as well have it back. However there are still ABS, parking brake and vsc warnings. The guy said the errors keep pointing back to EGR. There are performance issues and the engine did cut out a few times so I agree that it's probably the EGR, but I can't see how that affects the brakes and vsc. Can someone please explain it to me?

Whenever I've attended (work for a breakdown company) diesel Toyotas with lack of power and EGR faults, the vsc and traction control warning are always illuminated, it's just a characteristic they have. Once the EGR is cleaned or replaced and the codes cleared from the vehicle memory they'll disappear

Thanks, that's some reassurance.

Would the EGR valve fault also explain a shuddering when braking from 50+? Not sure if it's and related to a phantom and fault or is it the EGR making the engine kidder because there is suddenly a massive engine braking load?
Also had a situation tonight where ALL of my electrics died while I was driving, no lights, no dashboard, even handbrake wouldn't work. Checked battery voltage and was 12.5V, a few minutes later had power back.
