Hi,

Please can someone help with a saga that we are currently going through with my wife's Citroen zsara Picasso 1.6 hdi (110bhp / 2006).
The story begins a couple of months ago when occasionally the car would suddenly lose power and display 'engine fault' on the dash. Changing down a gear caused the fault light to extinguish and the car to regain power. Generally the car would do this when cruising at 70 or 50mph. The car also started showing ESP fault occasionally - turning off the ignition would cause this light to extinguish.
We took the car to a reputable garage who found code p1351 (glowplugs), these were changed but the fault reoccurred. We took the car back to the same garage who found fault code p1462 (I think this what I remember) and changed the EGR and its gaskets.
The fault reoccurred again so I read the fault codes and found p1462, I popped the bonnet and found the air supply tube to the turbo was disconnected. I looked inside and the turbine blades were FUBAR.
This led to a range of emotions; happiness - yes I've found the fault, frustration at the garage for missing something so obvious and worry at the eminent bills. Over the last couple of weekends I have removed the turbo and replaced the core plus oil inlet/outlet pipes and oil Strainer in the sump. Took the car out today and the fault re-occurred. Same loss of power, but this time code p0100. I found a loose hose clip on The air inlet side so I have tightened this but would be interested in the thoughts of others because I believe the fault will reoccur.

The DPF also looked covered in carbon deposits so this may be some thing to follow up. Could this be the cause the issue I'm experiencing? How about the EGR vacuum valve - if the car has one? Or an inlet manifold filled with carbon crud which I understand is common on these engines? Can I get to a diagnosis with a reasonable fault code reader and live data (budget £200)?

Thanks in advance.
