This is a salutary tale of neglect by the previous owner of the 18 yr old 911 I've just bought. The wheels are split rim OEM & had (according to my friendly wheel refurber) been refinished in the past (although probably a good 8 or so yrs ago) & the car had been used as an every day car in that time for about 5 yrs.

The worst of the wheels looked like this before they went in for "surgery".....

All 4 were straightened as I take the attitude if you're spending a decent amount on a proper refurb, it's pointless not getting any small flat spots/buckles done at the same time. I haven't any pics to show the corrosion on the main barrels though it was shocking & a previous wet paint refurb had managed to hide a missing "chunk" from one that was uncovered.

Here's how they look now (with the rims powder coated rather than diamond cut like the faces) before the original bolts are polished & fitted (fortunately only 5 replacement bolts needed out of about 80 or so over the 4 rims)...

I have a fresh full set of Michelin PS2s to go on & I'll be applying sealant to the rims for good measure to maximise the finish & to help when cleaning them. I'm really pleased at the transformation biggrin

That looks like a good job, was it the place by spaghetti junction?

New car sounds interesting, an early 996 is about the only thing I'd get rid of my MR2 for.
