Ola Amigos,

I am currently running a 2005 Kia Sorento 2.5 CDRi auto as my daily workhorse.

Ive owned it for about 6 months and in that time its been great.

However the auto box has begun to thud when changing gear, and im sure its slipping slightly causing thudding as i drive at constant speed.

Ive checked the atf fluid and although its black, there are no particles and it doesnt smell burnt.

Its also taking its time to start but always does in the end.

Fast forward to today. My sister in law needed a hand as her alternator had gone, so i went over and used mine to jump start hers.

Ever since doing this, auto gearbox is now MUCH smoother, and the car cant wait to start!! Literally turn the key and half a second later its fired into life. Its cranking very quickly.

Only other thing i did today was check my tyre pressures and all were ~32 except back left which was about 18. So ive pumped that up and all the rest to 35 as it states in the door frame.

So whats happened? How has it miraculously fixed itself?!

Apologies for lack of grammar in this post im using my phone and have fat thumbs.

Any thoughts?

Most likely cause of the change in starting performance is that you have highlighted a dodgy battery terminal.

If I were you, now you have done that undo every one you touched whist jumping the car & make sure they are ell cleaned & tightened back up properly.

Started up this morning and still fixed! I think you must be right with the terminals.

Gearbox is a lot smoother too.

I will disconnect and thoroughly clean later.
