I'm trying to source a radiator. I looked it up on the Lexus Tech website and it says the part number is

16400-38190
however supersession exists, new part is
16400-38192 (there is also apparently a 16400-38191)

from 08/2006 to 09/2008 (my car is 09/2006)

This is apparently the original part

https://golloscdn.com/20808/Prod/3005140/Logo/l.jp...
https://golloscdn.com/20808/Prod/3005140/164003819...

According to this not-necessarily-reliable site the radiator is:

https://www.gamela.com.tw/product/6112523N/Radiato...

CORE SIZE: PA 450x708x16/26
DPI 13037

Looking up a similar age US car it has a similar thing, except the part number is

16400-38170 and 16400-38172
However the third party code is still 13037

There are parts on ebay USA and the sizing is given as Core size 708x450x16mm (or in inches) e.g., https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-RADIATOR-FOR-LEXUS-FI...

Anyway, Lexus will sell me one for £350, and the only one I can find on Ebay is 425x708

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-LS-MK-4-AUTOMATIC-...

I presume this would not work as mine is 450x708?

Contact the vendor and ask them.

I spoke to a different vendor and they had the same 708x425 size and part number. I said 'mine is 708x450 with a different part number', but they said 'we don't have that part number or size, it probably wouldn't line up with the fan as it's a different core size.'

Can you get a drawing from the manufacturers site to look at?
What I found was that (on the drawings at least, but maybe not in reality) they were all measuring them from different datums, some used O/A size (inc end tanks) and others were to core size.
I put one of your numbers through our system, but it came back as (maker) Nissens NLA.
You need someone to work with the reg plate to be most accurate, but what is make, model, year, engine?

25mm difference is minimal - and could quite easily be down to measuring from different places. Perhaps the core itself is 450mm, but with the flanges of the top and bottom rails in place, only 425mm can be seen?

unfortunately not. the only drawing on the manufacturer's site lacks measurements

http://lexus-vin.ru/images/codes/1640038190.png

Depending on the specific sub-model code there are a bunch of different part numbers. How they all differ is not clear.

At the moment what I'm seeing

16400-38170 replaced by 16400-38171 replaced by 16400-38172 = US radiator
Interchange Part Number: 16400-38170, 3386, CU13018, CU13037, B13037, 13037
Other Part Number: 8013037, 221-3174, B13018, 16010397

16400-38190 replaced by 16400-38191 replaced by 16400-38192 = UK radiator from 2006-2008
16400-38200 replaced by 16400-38201 replaced by 16400-38202 = UK radiator from 2008

however the measurements I can find are that 38170 and 38190 are the same size but 38200 is smaller.

The 38170 or the equivalent part numbers seem to be easy to find in the US, but not in the UK.

The third party supplier said - we don't have that part. I called Lexus with the chassis number and they said 'we can't tell you the part number, we can just tell you the price, and we can have it in on Tuesday'. I called a second dealer with the part number, and he said 'yes that's £360 and we can have it on Tuesday'.

I'm trying to figure it out from the diagram if there's actually any difference:

38190 radiator (larger)
http://www.jp-carparts.com/toyota/partlist.php?mak...

shroud fan part number 16711-38070

38200 radiator (smaller)
http://www.jp-carparts.com/toyota/partlist.php?mak...

shroud fan part number 16711-38110

However Lexus seem to change the part numbers https://www.carmd.com/Tsb/Download/90756/L-SB-0029... without necessarily changing anything.

Well I've just stuck a tape measure through the cover on top of the radiator, and there's no way that it's 45cm tall, 42.5cm seems more or less right, so I'll just go with that.

just a boring update, the Ebay part wasn't tall enough when it got into the garage. specialist radiator company said 'yeah we have that', but then they came to the garage to look and said 'oh, no we don't actually have it'.

so in the end having to buy from lexus.
