Engine build lube
Discussion
Rebuilt a Ford 302 V8 rebored new pistons cams bearing bottom end ect, engine oil on the crank bearings and Edelbrok cam lube on cams as flat tappet.
Used WD40 for the bores after quite a lot of my research there is good consensus on WD40 stops glazing and quicker bedding in. The engine would need to be fired-up soon after rebuilt in case it dries out. Also need to use high ZZDP in oil with flat tappet cams.

http://www.realsteel.co.uk sell the Clevite stuff amongst other good brands Permatex for sealers etc no connection other than I use them a fair bit like above never been a believer in drowning bores and pistons in oil I like my rings to scuff -in rapidly and have even used piston combo's of known oil burning history without problems using this method i.e Ford Lotus pistons in a X flow Ford build many years ago but then I dont break-in engines easy either
