I wasn't excited over the DMF/DPF comment. But I refuse to calm down over how much of an arse ache DMF's are.
Good point and well put.

But allegedly they make our cars so much smoother and better !!
And lets the OEM fit a cheaper gearbox.

It's not allegedly. they do. Not so much smoother but helps to eliminate noise, vibration etc from the gears.

And the use of a sprung flywheel with a fixed friction plate to dampen vibration is SO much better than a fixed flywheel and a sprung friction plate............

Just bumping this as I appear to be in the same situation. Clutch was slipping in 5th/6th consistently last month, but now won’t no matter what I do.

Is it wishful thinking to think it’s fixed? It’s booked in next month but I’d rather save the cash.

Well just to finish off my story my clutch plate was almost down to the rivets. The DMF was rather blue due to the heat but was otherwise ok with a new clutch fitted.
