Citroen HY engine transplant

Hi gang, I am looking to remove the original engine from my van and replace it with something newer and better.
The van is a 1973 Citroen HY, with an Indenor Diesel engine.
So does anyone know what my options are? The Citroen enthusiasts are telling me to keep the original in, but its gutless, and I am not going to be showing the engine off to anyone anytime soon, its just for practical use.
I am hoping to do the transplant myself with an assistant, any thoughts on this idea would be lovely!
Also, I happen to own a 1999 Audi a6 1.9tdi, which I'm hoping might be on the list of engines that are suitable for this swap? Would be amazing if that's the case!
