Hi

I have a Range Rover fitted with a 300TDI but no GlowPlugs - It normally starts ok, but with the cold weather its not happy.

If I spray Cold Start into the air inlet, it'll run for a short while, but not settle, it just stops.

I'm guessing that fitting a set of GlowPlugs is going to be the answer (?)!

Does that sound right and ow much should I expect to pay for the work to be done?

Thank you

If it hasn't got glow plugs aren't the cylinders vented to the atmosphere through the holes where the plugs should be?

Or were some variants of this engine not fitted with them?

Hi - Sorry - Fitted but not wired-up. Its a Range Rover converted to 300TDI but (don't know why) the GlowPlugs weren't connected.

You could wire them like below, all that's needed is the push button and a solenoid as you have the rest
Excuse the poor drawing I'm under pressure
This diagram is for 12 Volt heater plugs and you will need to check what voltage yours are

good functional diagram but a mention of cct protection would not be amiss you might find someone copying that directly

Fuses & timers I've heard of & I assume the button in the above diagram is press & hold to make the circuit but what does CCT stand for?

My 300tdi was a reluctant starter after a cold night, a new set of heater plugs and it romps into life if you wait for the heater plug warning lamp to extinguish before cranking.

They are wired in parallel.
