So I've got a squeak/squeal coming from my car. Cannot for the life of me narrow it down but I'm pretty positive it's coming from one of the nearside wheels, possibly moreso after right turns, possible moreso after coming downhill (but not directly under braking) and possible moreso when it is cold.

I've tried stationary lock to lock to see if it's power steering related, but no sounds. No uneven brake wear. Tried spinning the front wheels freely, the left one seemed to be catching slightly, but it was so slight that I'm not sure whether it's normal? Maybe a warped disk if not normal. Would that squeak?

Car is a Suzuki Swift Sport 2017 but the same thing was happening with my girlfriend's car (2015 1.2 Swift) and they sorted it at a service. No idea what they did though!

Admittedly, my car is is in for a service in a couple of weeks but I just want to know what it is. Was thinking of lubricating some of the steering components but not really sure what to use for that. Any suggestions appreciated!

Cheers.

Do you mean the squeak stops when you apply the brakes?

Yesterday after coming down a long and pretty steep hill, the noise was almost constant, especially when turning. Back on the flat, it went away. Not sure if that was a coincidence or not.

What I meant by the above was, it wasn't happening in correlation with me applying the brakes, so therefore ruling out worn pads. Whether applying the brakes actually made it stop, I don't think so but not 100% if I'm honest.

Worn wheel bearing allowing disc to contact the pads resulting in brake squealing?

If it's sensitive to very small amounts of braking effort, I'd suspect the noise is coming from pad/rotor contact.

If it's sensitive to cornering and affected by heavy braking it may be bearing related.

I'm thinking it's brake related but hoping something just needs a squirt of oil. I know things can go at any time, but would a wheel bearing be likely to go on a car less than a year old/less than 8000 miles?

I'm going to try and find some sort of correlation but otherwise I'm just gonna wait for the service. I'll report back if I figure it out beforehand.

Oh yeah, someone on the Suzuki forum said it could be something to do with a ride height sensor but I couldn't find anything about them online or in the manual.
