Hi All,

My daughter used an ice scraper to remove snow from the car and has managed to scratch every single panel, bar the roof as she cant reach that high! The scratches are pretty deep, can catch a fingernail in them. Bonnet looks like it has been keyed.

What's the best way to proceed with this - machine polish and see how bad it looks after, or respray? I haven't called the insurance yet but that may have to be the way we go.

Any advice on a repair method greatly appreciated!

Wet sand & then machine polish & then decide if you can live with what you have.

If they're that deep that it looks like it's being keyed and you can get a fingernail to catch on them, probably a respray.

Make your daughter pay for it to be fixed if she was that careless. (unless of course she was a child and just trying to help) other than that wetsand and polish and live with it. Live with it how it is now. Or respray the panels but you'll be looking at 200 quid a panel at least

Insurance job then by the sounds of it. It's a lease car so has to go back.

They may polish out, but come back with time as all the paint residue that filled the scratches comes away during the washing process. Get it polished first, and if it has the desired effect get it polished again before it goes back...

Might be worth buying a DA polisher and seeing if you can get them out.
