Ford Focus & Mondeo ECU's
have common problems with misfire on two cylinders and complete non start due to lack of ignition output to the coils. We can rebuild your own Ford Focus or Mondeo ECU and return it to you with a 2 year warranty.

This lot saved my bacon by repairing my A4 B5 abs module ...They also TEST prior to any work on component see main page..

Thank you for your reply GreenV8S.
I fully appreciate and understand your idea ! It would certainly confirm 100% whether or not I'm dealing with a faulty ECU !
I have nothing to lose by trying this !
Thanks !

Thanks Kccv23highliftcam .
I think I am on the verge of looking around for some professional input with this problem. My problem is by no means unique by the sound of it , especially after reading your own experience ! It is always nice to have a recommendation !
Thanks.

It certainly isn't unique, the ecu failed on my missus old Fiesta and guess which cylinders stopped firing? Yep, 1 & 4.....

To sort the issue I fitted a second hand ecu, clock and transponder ring from a scrap car, obviously getting your ecu repaired would be better (if it is the ecu, that is!).

Might be worth trying to clear the fault code but i'd be surprised if that kept the coil from firing , sending the ecu off for testing seems a logical next step to me as you have checked the wiring

The eml may remain on is the fault isn't cleared but the car should still run ok.

Well my friends !
All is resolved and I'm back on the road !
Firstly , I want to thank you all for offering your kind advice !
Never had a response like it !!
The culprit ? It was the ECU which , apparently , is a common problem giving rise to a misfire on 1 and 4 or 2 and 3 !
Managed to get the original unit tested and repaired !
Safe motoring !
