Having some trouble with my car. It has a complete loss of power for a second or two when setting off/up hill especially when cold, once it builds up speed its fine. I checked the spark plugs which have soot on them. Unhooked the o2 sensor which didn't change anything. Maybe MAP sensor? Problem is I cant find it.

It's this engine:

In a Nissan Pulsar (Australia). Appreciate any help is this is the limit of my mechanical knowledge haha.

The table you linked goes to the 1.6 engine and says it has a carburettor, is this what you have?

It's a bit confusing. I think its an early SPFI type system. It doesn't look like what I'd expect a carb to look like when I take the filter housing off. Would a carb have an o2 and a map sensor?

Yes it's the 1.6
