I'm basically learning everything about cars and engine parts on my own from reading forums and watching youtube videos.
I have no training in car mechanics and nobody has ever taught me anything about cars except what I learned on my own (usually from
bad experiences).

What the heck is that black box in my engine bay? Is that a CATCH CAN?
If so, I guess that is a good thing since I just learned my engine is a DI and is prone to carbon build up and catch cans help slow down
the build up of carbon.

thanks....reading up on it now.

So does it function somewhat like a catch can? darn it. It doesn't.
I guess I'll have to find out if I can still fit a catch can in there somewhere.

Charcoal canister is mainly for the environment frown

It does, but for the fuel system not the breather system that causes carbon build up on Di engines.
