Hi all,

I am in desperate need of someones help... my partner has a Nissan Qashqui 2011 1.5 DCI which recently started refusing to rev about 1500rpm

The only way this could be done was to rev the throttle for about 10 minutes to get it up about 2.5/3000. We have had specialists out saying it isnt the DPF filter at all and that it is clean, 3 garages have suggest a turbo so we had the turbo changed only for it not to make any difference

Does any one have ANY idea at all on what the problem might be?

All of your help would be appreciated

Get a fault code reader and read the codes.
Then look them up on the internet.

I'm on it already, As the turbo was under warranty I should have success in getting my money back

The garage the car is in, to be fair, have been quite good... given us another car to use for the time being, spent quite a long time on the car when it didn't work and have someone coming in on Tuesday (outside of their mechanics) to take a look at it... and not charging...

Just wants it fixed desperately as no one can diagnose whats actually wrong with it!

Have you ever heard of something like that!!

Has anyone actually read the codes?

If a diesel wont rev I'd be thinking restriction in fuel or air. Start by changing the filters, clean the EGR and check the MAF.

Its arguably the most common diesel engine on the roads.

Find someone who has a clue!

Randomly replacing a turbo for the fun of it shows they don't have a scooby.

Not that I'm aware off

had "DPF Doctor" out who mentioned it doesn't need changing...

EGR Checked I am sure, unsure about MAF

It sounds like a sensor to me, maybe the DPF sensor.

Specialists? They sound like third rate ones to me. ANY decent mechanic should be able to diagnose this quickly.

If you tell us where you live, someone might be able to advise where to go, or maybe even help.

Good luck.

Go to Nissan and get the codes read.

Also check with the Renault forums as that engine is widely used by both marques and they've built millions of the things so someone will have a fix for you to try.

Are you just trying to rev the crap out of it sitting in the driveway, or actually driving ?

And surely there is a CEL with some codes present ? A little help and information would go a long way here.

revving the crap out of it at first but then it actually drives but have to drive at speed. Negotiating round abouts etc... is st as have to carry on revving whilst slowing down. Dangerous and no fun - hence it being whisked in to a garage asap!

The steel pipe from DPF to pressure transducer is prone to clogging on these but this normally trips a DSC/ABS fault also
