making my audi tt seat runners go out further

I am fitting a set of audi tt front seats to my old simca
Where I can fit them leaves me a couple of inches too close to the pedals,
and I want the seat to go back 2 or 3 more inches, this can only be done by grinding the stop lugs off,
this has been done but the seats still will not run back any more .
Any ideas please Dave
