I think this is relevant as it's simply who should or shouldn't be the next Labour Leader.
Other posts are about the general future of or are rather general type threads

So far a couple of people seem to be suggesting they will be up for it.
One being Jess Phillips personally I find it quite laughable and lamentable.
Lisa Nandy is another one. I find her completely lightweight little more than a Labour version of Jo Swinson
Rebecca Long-Bailey looks to be the one that the Corbyn faction would like

Personally I just find it hard to see any of the bigger profile Labour MP's being up to it.

The big problem (thanks to Ed Milliband) is that the wider £3 members get to vote, which basically nails on another hard left Momentum candidate, eg Raynor. In my view, the only capable, centre left candidate is Kier Starmer, but he’s got no chance unless the system changes.

At least that would be honest as that is about the intellectual level of those at the top of the Labour party.

Keir Starmer or Yvette Cooper would be the sensible choice IMO.

Fingers crossed, or Long Bailey. The intellect level will be kept nice and low and should be good for a few more years of amusement.

The next Labour leader will be female, that’s all we can be sure of.

Smiler.

I saw a Twitter account yesterday, "Angela Rayner for leader" or something.

I genuinely lol'd as I couldn't tell if it was yet another parody.

Can you imagine.

Like a dystopian Eliza Doolittle.

Join. Vote. Rebecca Wrong-Daily would be my choice. Make her your choice too.

Clearly if Owen Jones or Diane Abbot were standing, I’d vote for them too.

Agreed. On paper the best candidate, so hopefully he'll change his mind on running for leadership.

If Boris can become PM, I see no reason why Diane Abbott couldn’t oppose him. laugh

Starmer should get it and is the obvious election winner - intelligent, charismatic, good credentials as former DPP, can appeal to the centrists.

However this is the 2019 Labour party where 3 quid members and the Momentum-influenced rank and file have the vote, and they all want a female leader from the left.

So it'll be Jess Philips or The Rayner.

Either of those two and they are condemned to another electoral defeat already.

You don't need a great political brain, that's what the spads are for.

You need someone likeable, able to follow a script, have a reasonable memory and be able to think on their feet.

That's why we've a chubby Hugh Grant in no10.

Watching him flounce out of PMQ's when someone says mean things about him would be superb.

I think they they'll elect a momentum backed no mark and put up with them until around eighteen months before the next election and then get someone who would be more palatable to the wider electorate in, Starmer for example

What about this charming chap.

Lloyd Russell-Moyle
Seems to have the credentials to do the job.

Sure some in Momentum will be thinking - He's a contender

Yvette Cooper - just no. May not be a too radical whack job but that's the only thing positive I could say about her
