I guess I could be turning into a grumpy old man but I'm getting more and more pissed off with hearing about the political opinions of stars.

Patrick fecking Stewart and his blathering on about Brexit and BoJo, ditto prosie user Hugh Grant with (pretty much) identikit views, lilly allen and St fking bono.
Then you have Ted Nugent returning the favour for the (loony?) right along with the talent black-hole that is Morrissey.

Seriously guys I pay money to be entertained by you, not to listen to you dribble on about whatever "worthy" cause you feel the need to preach about this time. Why don't you go back to entertaining and keep your fking opinions to yourselves?

Am I alone in feeling this way?

Christ is Ted Nugent still alive?

Anyway the answer is yes. I am heartily sick of hearing the political outpourings of various slebs, all with identikit off-the-shelf positions. even if they have a modicum of acting talent, that doesn't mean i give a monkey's for their view on brexit.

actors should stay behind the veil of the suspension of disbelief, not thrust themselves into the politisphere and hassle me over my breakfast eggs. Bah!

And as for that tiresome perennial-brandishing nincumpoop God preserve me.

Much as I love a reason to hate Bono, I've seen nothing political from any of the aforementioned.

OP, turn off the telly, stop buying the red tops and get down the pub. smile

Yes

But they have a right to hold them.

Unfair when they use their fame to push their views on the rest of us.

Jamie bloody Oliver and his campaign against school dinners can get stuffed.
His cook books aren’t exactly a beacon of healthy eating and good diet.
Last time I saw him on telly, purely by chance and whilst flicking through to see if anything good was on, he was throwing together sticky toffee pudding. Low fat it wasn’t.
As for Lily Allen.....for the love of god someone shut her up.

No, because I know their opinions don't make a jot of difference and it's quite funny seeing the likes of Lilly Allen having full on meltdowns when they don't get their way.

I think Gervais has it about right. No one in the real world gives a fk what you think just do what you're paid to do and lets face it for most of them that's to sing and dance for our amusement, nothing more.

Yep, it does annoy me a bit, but only because the "celebrities" espousing their views seem to all be terrible hypocrites and/or liars.

Distilled, these people are no different from me, you or the average person on the street. I acknowledge that J.K Rowling has written a shed-load of popular books, Bono has published a huge amount of well-received songs, Bob Geldof did some good work 30+ years ago and is still making a living out of it now somehow.

When it comes down to it though, everyone's personal opinion (and their vote) is equal, celebrity or not.

I have no idea why some of the "celebs" mentioned above believe that just because they have a public platform, that their reasoning or logic is any more valid than anyone else's, and why they feel they have an automatic right to try to influence others.

The likes of Lily Allen may shed a few crocodile tears, perhaps she will promise again to house homeless refugees in the spare rooms of her own house as she did a few years back. I'm not sure how many people she provided shelter to in the end but my guess would be none.

There was an actor on this weeks BBC Question Time and after seeing him I am of the opinion that actors (for the most part) should stick to playing let's pretend.

Couldn't agree more!

As someone said the other day, shutting her up isn't a problem - the tricky bit is making it look like an accident. biggrin

At least some of the time it's just another question thrown at them that gets grabbed and blown up.

I seem to remember Brad PItt having the grace to wonder why anyone should care what he thinks about anything.

They are human beings and as such are entitled to their opinions, its no different from people voicing their political opinions on here they are just doing it from a different platform. They can say what they like as far as I'm concerned, same as anyone on here can voice any political views they possess. I personally don't give a fk what someones political views are, and if they start voicing them I can walk away / change channel / turn my computer off etc. I never get why people are so butthurt about other people saying things they think, maybe some people need to learn that other people think differe t thi gs to them and actually, thats ok

She rented her spare house out to a Hungarian diplomat then had a twitter meltdown when he wouldn't move out before his contract was up so she could live there.

To be honest I treat their opinions with the same disdain as I treat politicians opinions, the last couple of years have taught me to totally mistrust every damn one of the senior political figures in power.

So why should I believe anything some celebrity has to say to try and corr favour with certain people? Nonsense really.

I prefer to make your own mind up, not be preached or spoken like a child to thanks.

The fact that they think they’re relavent annoys and the fact the media cream themselves over it, I couldn’t give two ****s what they actually think.
