Party and home music set up - is it possible?

We've got a party planned for a village hall next week and due to very unfortunate personal circumstances or DJ has had to pull out.

Have a Amazon Music account so my thought is to buy something we can use for the party and then enjoy at home. The hall has WiFi.

It's obviously a large room but music only needs to fill a rudimentary dance floor area at one end.

I'd been thinking about getting a Sonos type set up for the party and then for use at home afterwards. I've got access to a staff discount at John Lewis through a friend, so would a couple (or three!) Sonos 1SLs be sufficiently loud enough for a good boogie?

For bigger events we borrow something bigger. I can’t honestly see how a few Sonos 1s will give you a good result.

I’d be looking at some used DJ gear, then selling it on after. I doubt a sonus system could fill a village hall to any sort of dance levels. You say it’s only one area for the music, but the bass will probably be sucked out by the rest of the hall. You need to shift some air!

I could, of course, be completely wrong! Basic DJ active speakers are fairly cheap even new, by the way.

There aren't too many setups that will be capable to doing the village hall without looking too 'PRO' and agricultural when used at home. There are a few but they are more expensive.

Bluetooth isn't that great for this kind of thing, as who ever has the streaming device needs to be reasonably close at all times otherwise the music will keep dropping out.

If you are setting up an ipad or similar, set up a playlist and leave it hidden in close range.

So it's an active PA speaker job then? Was really hoping could buy something usable for the house afterwards. Looks like ill have to buy something and flog it afterwards. Damn!

What's the max budget? How much can you get 3 of the Sonos units for, with your mate's JL discount.

You can get active studio monitors that you might be happy with domestically which would also fit the village hall brief.

It's obviously your call regarding the looks, domestically, but I doubt there is any thing else that gets near that Adam audio setup for performance at £400.00ish. Active Adam speakers with seperate remote control pre-amp inc bluetooth. Bass down to below 40Hz and 110dB max output. If you put the speakers in the corners of the hall it will make a big ( + 6dB extra ) difference to the low bass.
