Well after getting the itch to swap my ‘keeper’ and being unable to find something I like in the current Aston range (or the offer I had for it against a vanq was not a deal in my opinion but theft) I decided the V12vs is now a real keeper and bought something else British to complement it.
A Morgan arp 4 with cosworth engine.
I left the brand a few years ago but regretted it , saw sense and came back, none of the other car brands in the sector do anything for me ,Aston is the one but at the moment my money has gone elsewhere.
Has anyone else had the same feelings I know it’s first world problems !

I know where you're coming from on this. Spent several months window shopping online at other cars and nothing new or recent from other manufacturers quite spoke to me like some of the Astons do, so now find myself in the fortunate position of having both a V12VSM and a Gen 2 Vanquish S. Could have gone more current but I just prefer these to the current lineup.

Always had a hankering for a Morgan too. Out of interest, what's the Cossie in yours derived from? One of my other cars runs a Cosworth YB (heavily breathed on and now naturally aspirated) and it's a lovely powerplant.

Hi LT
Its a 2.0ltr costworth engine with carbon fibre bits on it, as you can tell I aren’t mechanically minded lol ! They only made 50 world wide , it a bit tame until you reach 4.5k revs then it’s screams away until 8k revs
Totally different to the Aston in every way but still British, it’s a bit sad that we cannot find a new Aston to suit us, the depreciation on the new line up was also a factor for me
Great combo by the way my problem was I had to get a shorter car as the garage has a dog leg !

I think it’s a real dilemma. Aston gets under your skin

I think I’d be embarrassed driving a Ferrari. And I certainly wouldn’t want to admit to owning one. And I’m not in my 20s so a Lamborghini is out

Porsche does nothing for me (albeit a classic from the 70s might be fun).

I’d love a McLaren but I just can’t get past the combination of rampant depreciation and appalling build quality/issues.

Morgan is tempting. Love the look of the aero GTs. Maybe I’ll take a look at one of those next time I get the itch

Couldn't agree more Rob, Astons do get to you! There's no denying that others but they're currently too shouty or clinical to really appeal (I will however confess to occasionally browsing 60s Ferraris in the classifieds).

Had a quick look and it looks like the Cosworth in yours is Ford Duratec based (not a huge surprise). I imagine it's a lot of fun!

Agree it's a shame the current lineup doesn't excite a good number of existing owners... I sometimes think the DBSS would be worth a look but it's too close to the Vanquish (probably couldn't justify both) and think the naturally aspirated Aston engines are rather special! Newcomers to the brand may be less fond of the old ones?

Yes Aston certainly gets under your skin when, I am with you on the Italian cars ... not for me , I want a modern classic that’s British !

You’d have to be doing seriously well to be running a Lambo in your 20s! I made the change from a V12VS to a 570s in early Dec , 1000 miles in and not a single issue to report yet and that’s with a mix of motorway, city, B roads and track use... car also seems well screwed together...it’s not a new car though being a 2016 model with 17k on the clock so maybe that’s helped. In an ideal world I’d love to have both in my garage tbh.

I keep looking at the 570s and it’s good to hear your opinion.

I know two people that have them. One uses his nearly every day and has already done 20k and apart from minor cosmetics he has never had any issues worth mentioning.

The other scares me as his car had done 3k but has been back and forwards to various dealerships over the last 2 years to the point he wants out but being on finance says he is about £30k the wrong way.

I just cant get exited about any current model lineup let alone Astons. I don’t know quite why that is other than one might get subconsciously indoctrinated by the whole electric going green debate. Come Spring and this might change (fingers crossed).

I was looking for a car that had been ‘broken in’ let’s say so something a few yrs old with at least 10k miles on it the idea being any issues the car had would have been well ironed out so far so good but it’s still early days so hope it continues. It think that around the £90k mark there is nothing that comes close if the car is sound.

I was with a client the other day who is an FCA main dealer. They regularly have to take back 2/3 yro cars that have had issues. Your mate might want to speak to the finance company. Don't forget they are regulated and can't stand any bad publicity. Worth a try.

I’m in very similar position. Ex Morgan owner here and no upgrade path for me currently in Aston world. Suspect my next purchase will be a 3 wheeler or Plus 6 to sit alongside Vantage.

Yep. First world problems here too biggrin

I have the V12V, Ariel Atom, and just upgraded my Range Rover Sport for a full fat Range Rover Autobiog.

Love the Morgan BTW.

Cheers

Chris.
