Morning all

Were thinking about an kitchen extension long term and I like the idea of building a bbq I. To the wall.

Has anyone done this? I've googled them for a prebuilt kit but couldn't really see anything.

A friend has one built into the wall that then feeds the smoke up the chimney from the living room.

It sounds a great idea but in reality it lacks any kind of control that you need to do good bbq and outdoor cooking. There’s no lid to close and no variable vents to control the temperature. It’s basically just a grill for direct cooking over high heat - but it does work well for steak and fresh seafood (which is fine as it’s at his villa on the coast in Portugal and that’s all he cooks).

Basically a Weber will be more versatile, cook better food and be a lot cheaper. And a lot less risk of fat congealing up your chimney!

Take a look on the last few pages of the BBQ thread in the food section , I've built a floating grill type into a stone wall in france with a chimney and built another inside BBQ grill with a chimney into an outbuilding I have . We use it all the time , even when it's raining .
