now starting to pull my hair out and thinking of selling my lovely XJ6 now. It's been in and out of garages for a vibration that you can feel through the steering wheel. It's mainly when you are doing around 65 mph. i have had new tyres front and back had new discs and pads had all suspension checked and had a front wishbone changed. Had all the balancing checked still no change .I have been told by a mechanic that it is not the drive shaft or the diff ..now been told it could be the tracking ? Would the tracking being out cause a vibration ..any ideas would really help thanks. Lionel

Not specific to Jags but worn propshaft joints can cause this sort of problem, get someone to check the hardy spicer type joint in particular.

"Mainly felt through the steering wheel" implies (although not 100%) that the issue is more likely the front rather than the rear.

You have had the balancing checked but did they actually look at whether a wheel is slightly buckled? You can balance a buckled wheel & it seem fine.

Swap both wheels front to rear to check.

Check engine & gearbox mounts & prop-shaft centre joint. (be brutal & vigorous with these as the engine will put a lot of torque/force on them)

History....when was it last ok ? Any work done prior to this problem ? Did anything occur that started it ?

Is it all original wheels etc ?

Is it always only at that specific road speed, in any gear ? All road surfaces ?

You say you changed tyres, all new tyres ? brand ? No change whatsoever ?

There’s a guy on the X350 forums that had the same and was also pulling his hair out.
In desperation he changed the wheel bearings evennthoygh they looked fine… hey presto .. gone .
I’ve bought some just in case!

i have been told that it could be low on automatic transmission fluid and that could cause the vibration any thoughts on that please
