Vauxhall Mokka 16.cdti turbo noise.

Hi, just after some feedback on what is probably a failed turbo, so before I pull it apart to replace it does anyone have any other thoughts?
It’s my girlfriends 15 plate Mokka 1.6 diesel. It started last week making a whistling when coming on boost and slight loose of power in the higher gears.
I looked for a leak but couldn’t see one visual, and she is off work next week for a few days so thought i would look properly then.
However today it upped its game and it sounds like a fun fair ride. On tick over it makes a fan like noise, which you can stop by pushing open the wastegate. I am assuming it’s the turbo that’s gone. No smoke from the exhaust or much oil in the intake.

Pull the air inlet pipe off and have a look/feel.

I pulled off the inlet pipe, i could feel probably around 2mm up /down movement of the shaft, no in out movment.

2mm sounds like a lot for such a small turbo.

Although hard to see on the photo if the blades have been making any contact with the housing, or the ends of the blades are burred from that.
