My sister has picked up a 07 Citroen C3 1.4 HDI for shed money that has a habit of going into limp mode. The car itself has completed about 80k, and been regularly serviced in its lifetime, and I have just completed an oil and filter change.

She has only had the car for about a month, and its started to go into limp mode when driving. Normally this is when the car has got up to temp, but its not clear what's triggering the limp mode. Its occurred on the motorway, and also under load. She can stop the car, turn off the ignition, and then restart the car and all it fine. Engine management light disappears and it drives as normal.

She drove it back from mine to her house yesterday (30mins) and it didn't go into limp mode, but it did stutter occasionally but then was fine. Her OH does have a basic code reader so will see if that flags anything from the ECU, but im struggling to think what it could be,

Any known issues with these engines with sensors or blocked EGR valves?

Cheers

Blocked EGR valves and Boost leaks then yes , get a code reader on it and study the live data inc any stored/historic/current codes
