UPDATE:
Warranty company won’t cover the claim because the car was serviced late according to the warranty company service schedule (annually / 10000 miles). We were late to book the service (by 5 months and 4K miles) as hadn’t received the normal service reminder from them until that point (normal email reminding us a service was due). When we got that we booked it in as soon as possible (couple of weeks later).
We have said this to the warranty company but even though they sent the reminder late I think they’ll tell us it still isn’t their concern as we should have serviced the car in line with their contract. Absolutely kicking myself as these services are included in the maintenance pack!
Frustratingly the car had that service (no issues found) and was serviced again this year (no fault found) less than a month before this issue arose.
Not sure whether or not we have grounds to win an appeal with the company (they have admitted internal communication problems) or if we just have to suck up a very expensive mistake

It's not hard to know when your car needs serviced.
But warranty companies will always try and wriggle out, it's what they do
5 months/4k is quite a bit over, even if in reality it probably would not make a difference to the failure.
Yeh cheers for that - feeling pretty great about it obviously. But warranty companies will always try and wriggle out, it's what they do

Grown reliant in this day and age of the reminders being sent. Odd to me that they did send a reminder but one 4 months late. When that got sent we booked a service that day. Not an excuse just saying it how it is - no intention of doing it late.
