refreshed and rebuilt, rebuilt carb and distributer, new points and condenser . . .started really easy, but it wont tick over, anything less than 2000rpm and it dies . . . . my guess is ignition, the coil was new a year ago, its bog standard

it seems to run and pick up fine over 2k

its a standard cam, Ive run out of non viloent/destructive ideas . . .anyone got any
(its for my younger Brothers car so dont suggest throwing it away for a V6, he cant insure it!)

Great old engines !
Whilst U have refurbed the carb, and as u are sure that you have a spark, ie will run at 2K +, check carb slow run jet / diapharm [assume its the Weber Carb ?]and idle adjustment.

Dependant upon where U are based, always found Southern Carbs in Wimbledon were good for repair / advise

Er has it got the elecrical idle shut off valve fitted?
If these are fitted and not powered itll run but wont idle at all.
Check you have the jets in correctly(in their proper locations) and are screwed fully home.
Possible that the slow running screw is too far in so cuts off the fuel......just a thought..
Hope this helps.

my Brother rebuilt the carb with a kit so Ill check it, if it where a two stroke Id say it was carb/fuel problems, but Im not so sure . . . . my gut feeling is ignition

I think Ill check the carb and try a different distributor . . . .just as well i Have a garage full of ferrous tat to play with!
