Are the colour tune kits any good? Need to set up the Mini, I’m borrowing a timing light (mine needs recalibrating) but also need to sort the mixture out.

They're not bad for setting up the idle mixture but obviously not a lot of cop for full load

Hm well from what i remember of minis, theres not a lot ya can do regarding mixture, if its got the SU carbs that is.

There is a mixture adjusment nut at the bottom of the carb

Yeah that nut just sets up the position of the needle jet, usually for idle mixture, by raising or lowering the jet.
The actual metering is determined by the taper on the needle and its jet.
Unless you really want to play around with that, the only option is to adjust the nut for idle mix.
If the cars standard that is.

Used the colour tune to get it nearly right then just upped the mixture a bit till it pulled cleanly. Running ok now, will have it set up properly once I’ve finished sorting out the other little jobs.
