how much does a rover v8 weigh and chevy 350i??

I'm guessing a loaded 4.6 is probably heading towards 350 lbs, an iron smallblock is massivly heavier even with the alloy heads and an ls1 aluminium small block is 400lbs but can be trimmed to 380 ish.

these are pretty rough figures for completly standard engines, and it all depends on what specs you go for when it is built

190bhp is a bit low the the old Rover V8 isn't it? The 4.6 litre engine was standard in late Range Rovers and must have produced more than that.

the hp figures are pretty conservative. im assuming the are for the bog standard low displacement ones.

Hmm, I'd really like to know the weights of the following engines:

Alfa 2.5 V6 (12v)
Alfa 3.0 V6 (12v)
Alfa 3.0 V6 (24v)
2.8i Ford V6 cologne

Where do you get the info from ? -Jim

A 2.9 Cologne is 160kg in 'basic form'
I assume this is without starter motor, alt, clutch, etc.

I have all the weights of mine individually when I rebuilt it, and a total weight when it was ready to go back in the car, but...
They are in a cardboard box in the garage on about 15 bits of paper!!
I am guessing that total ready to run weight is the best part of 200kg - it's a bloody great lump!

FYI, I expect about 200BHP at the crank when I get it run in, as whilst capacity is original, it is ported and polished, the exhaust now has room for the gas to escape (who welded them up at the factory?!?!) and the original air filter will be replaced (as it is only good for 150BHP!)

I will post further info when I have it - don't hold your breath though!

Okay, It's not engine related exactly, but I weighed this old transaxle out of my Alfa 75 3.0, 72kg. Now I'm curious how much the Jag diff weighs in a wedge, and how much the rover gearbox weighs, to see if there is any advantage to a transaxle in the back of a wedge.
