I'm slowly sorting my car out for sprints and hill climbs (it's an ancient Porker 944 btw). For saftey reasons and to comply with the regs I wish to fit a cut out. I was originaly going to fit two separate cut outs but after looking at what others have done it apears you can fit just one (say an internal one)and then attach a kind to a cable operated remote outside device to it.

Anyone got any good advice they can impart on this matter ?

Hmm, I'm not sure what your regs are, but over here, IIRC, you can go with a single cutoff, as long as rescue workers can reach it without entering the vehicle. That might be the easiest way to go.

If not, you can get a cable to tie two together, so if one is turned, they both turn. Normally this requires that both be reset seperately though.

For most hill/sprint classes, the cut-out is optional. The most common setup has the switch inside where the driver can reach it, with a handle outside the car connected via a bowden cable to the handle on the switch so when you pull the external handle it turns the switch. It's common to do something similar with the fire extinguisher, and if you do this make sure you label the two exterior handles clearly. It has been known for a marshal to trigger the fire system trying to cut the engine, which makes a real mess.
