i don't think anybody seriously interested would be put off having read these posts, maybe enlightened.
I'll say it again they appear to be good value.
I wouldn't want to influence the sale of these engines and I don't doubt that they are good value hearing your view on the subject and the view of gsx600. It was an interesting subject which I feel could only have been added to by Liam if he'd taken that opportunity.

I was speaking personally in that I wouldn't want to deal with someone who portrayed themselves in the manner Liam has. The email I received from him reinforces this view for me but then it's easy for me to dismiss as I couldn't fit it in my 'fake lotus' anyway

Regards,

Mark

But why take the Rocker Covers off and Flog them seperately??

When i looked at that pic (even before I read Wedg1e's post about them) I clocked them. Can't be good having valve springs and rockers open to all kinds of dust and crap etc.

Engine does look in good nick though.

Why don't the exhausts look like the exhausts from a Griff or Chim though?

IIRC the exhausts wrap around the front of the engine, or am I completly arse about elbow here?

Liam,

The comments made here may have seemed a little questioning but I don't think they were unreasonable. There is a lot of knowledge to be shared here (as Tim has demonstrated) and this is precisely the point of these forums.

If you can address some of the issues people have raised and correct any factual errors then I think we'll all get on like a house on fire and you may sell your engine a lot more quickly to a community with specific interest in TVR items.

Thanks,
Ted

So why the wrapping of the engine on the Cat(?) Griffs then?

Think were talking at cross purposes here Tim.

I haven't got one to hand, but if you look at a pic of a Griff engine bay. The Exhausts seem to wrap around the front of the engine. I think this must be a Cat griff, why the difference in the exhaust route between the two??, it seems to me that the one in the pic the exhausts just drop down and then go under the car!

The picture i saw had the forward facing griff style manifolds with the "Y" piece missing, but at first glance it did look like traditional non TVR manifolds.

Ok Tim, Test of knowledge, why are the trumpets different lengths?

And there seems to be another set sitting on the floor to the left, what are they for?

The different lengths are because the trumpets feeding cylinders 127&8 cross over within the inlet manifold casting, so infact all the inlet tracts are the same length. The ones fitted to the 4.5BV engine are shorter because TVR cut them down , the ones beside the engine are standard length.

Went to buy a few bits from Liam today he's seliing all these bits for a friend,( TVR dealer / Exracer collected parts etc ) working on a small comision, seems like a very genuine bloke. Nice doing buisness with him. Loads of stuff left, no room left in the car.

Saw the engine in question, even helped load it into the back of a van (well my mate helped him, I'm still on crutches). Going into a MK4 Escort RWD, should be interesting...... Buyer seemed happy enough so was I and Liam. Happyness all round than Teds wishes come true
