Hi all, as above, looking to scratch an itch with a late built manual and preferably in a dark colour.

Have heard about the crank issue and corroded fuel and brake lines, plus rotten coil springs, anti roll bars and also the spring pans, plus the rear wishbones.
Any other rot prone areas ?
I am hands on and have access to a ramp.
Anyone have an under side shot of one ?
Best silencers to fit ?
Re map ?
Bilstein or Koni shocks on these ?
How much do they weigh ? Guessing circa 1600 kgs ? ( an E46 M3 is circa 1540 kgs )

Having owned a biturbo I would suggest you go for 4200 coupe. It will be far more reliable and sorted. I love the 3200 and its rear lights but if going for one think I'd go for a 4200 being na. Heard funny stories from friends who owned them by the way. One swore blind the 3200 threw him off the road for no reason hehe

Hi, I owned a manual 2001 3200 Assetto Corsa for 6 years. There is nothing like the feel of the two turbos kicking in at once around 2.5k rpm, mid corner if your not paying attention, exit stage left backwards! LOL, see post above. The fly by wire throttle will also narrow its band if wide open throttle not used until it becomes almost on/off, a reset will put it back to normal.
Check for rot at bottom of doors, rear arches, and rear around lights, but bodywise not too bad.
Wishbones can crack where bushes fit, and hard to see, but well documented.
The usual gremlins are the throttle body and pedal pot but contactless upgrades available.
Get a post 2001 OBDII car as it makes life a lot easier clearing any engine codes.
The thrust washers can wear, which will manifest itself as low oil pressure, which should normally read 5 bar only dropping slightly when hot, if it drops when clutch depressed then it is probably too late.
Error light on dash relates to suspension actuators, they run up and down when ignition turned on, if ones a bit sticky, or the plastic cogs broke they will bring up light.
Most cars will need hoses changed at this age, mine needed the turbo coolant pipes replacing.
I used mine often did a 3000 mile round trip to the factory for the centenary, a great car and only sold to buy a 348.
Look carefully as there are a few rough cars around, as they are expensive to maintain, keep on top of any issues and all should be well, it's if they have been left to accumulate they can bring big bills.
Look for a well maintained, and importantly a used car, they hate sitting. So buy on condition and not mileage.
